iACADEMY Animation Film “ANINAG” Selected for Screening at PelikulGBTQ+ 2026

ANINAG, a 2D paperless animated film created by fourth-year Animation students from iACADEMY, has been selected for screening at PelikulGBTQ+ 2026 held at the University of the Philippines Diliman.
Produced by Studio Garden Gnomes, the film was developed by Ais Krishine Louise Gacutan, Ayla Jaine Miranda, and Germaine Aliah. The story follows a transgender individual navigating identity, acceptance, and internalized transphobia while seeking self-understanding and belonging.
The selection recognizes the students’ ability to use animation as a platform for storytelling and social awareness. Through its narrative, ANINAG contributes to conversations surrounding inclusion, representation, and equality.
“Animation allows stories to reach audiences in powerful and meaningful ways,” said Hamill Buyco, Dean of iACADEMY’s School of Design and the Arts. “The selection of ANINAG demonstrates how our students are creating work that combines artistic excellence with relevant social themes.”
Monique Fandagani, Animation Program Coordinator, emphasized the value of festival exposure. “Opportunities like this allow students to share their creative voices with wider audiences and gain valuable experience within the animation and film community.”
The achievement reflects iACADEMY’s commitment to developing storytellers who create impactful narratives through animation.
