iACADEMY Animation Film “ANINAG” Earns Official Selection at Taos Pride Film Festival

ANINAG, a student-produced animated film from iACADEMY, has been selected as an official entry to the Taos Pride Film Festival in New Mexico, United States.

Created by Studio Garden Gnomes, the 2D paperless animated short was developed by fourth-year Animation students Ais Krishine Louise Gacutan, Ayla Jaine Miranda, and Germaine Aliah. The film explores the lived experiences of a transgender individual while addressing themes of identity, acceptance, and inclusion.

The Taos Pride Film Festival showcases films that amplify LGBTQIA+ voices and stories from emerging and established filmmakers worldwide. The selection places ANINAG among works that contribute to meaningful cultural conversations.

“This recognition highlights the growing caliber of our Animation students and their ability to tell stories that resonate across communities and cultures,” said Hamill Buyco, Dean of the School of Design and the Arts.

According to Monique Fandagani, Animation Program Coordinator, international exposure is an important milestone for student filmmakers. “Having student work recognized abroad demonstrates both creative excellence and the universal appeal of meaningful storytelling.”

The achievement reinforces iACADEMY’s commitment to producing globally competitive creatives prepared for the evolving animation industry.
